UQ rises in global rankings, leads nation in Agriculture

The University of Queensland rose to 37th globally in the 2025 NTU Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers, reinforcing its standing as a world-class research institution. 

UQ maintained national leadership in the fields of Agriculture (1st) and Life Sciences (2nd) – positions it held since 2019. 

The University had 12 subjects ranked in the global top 50: 

• Environment / Ecology (7th) 

• Agricultural Sciences (=13th) 

• Environmental Science and Engineering (13th) 

• Social Sciences, General (=14th) 

• Plant and Animal Science (21st) 

• Psychiatry / Psychology (22nd) 

• Pharmacology and Toxicology (27th) 

• Microbiology (29th) 

• Biology and Biochemistry (33rd) 

• Chemical Engineering (36th) 

• Economics and Business (44th) 

• Molecular Biology and Genetics (49th)
