UQ researchers win national awards for improving health systems, outcomes

Three University of Queensland researchers have been recognised for delivering meaningful improvements in healthcare and the lives of Australians in the Research Australia Awards. 

Their achievements reinforce UQ's position as a leader in health and medical research, strengthening the nation's capacity to drive innovation, retain world-class expertise and accelerate the development and manufacturing of new health technologies. 

UQ recipients: 

• Winner, Associate Professor Arutha Kulasinghe for The Cancer Blueprint for the Frontiers Award which recognises transformative research that could revolutionise health outcomes in Australia and internationally. 

• Winner, Associate Professor Chris Freeman for the Health Services Research Award which recognises an individual or team who has provided leadership and made an outstanding contribution to health services research. 

• Highly commended, Professor Gita Mishra AO for the Digital and Data Health Innovation Award which recognises an individual or team whose innovation is considered to represent one of the most impactful new data innovations in the health and medical research sector within the past five years
