Gold lotto balls lands on UQ library

30 October 1997

Library staff syndicate at the University of Queensland is $1million richer after a Gold Lotto win last month.

Syndicate member Andrew said the Wednesday night win had come after 18 months of 'paying our $3 every week'.

'It's an amazing feeling but I think we are all still in a state of shock.

'No-one's resigning but it's certainly enough to make it all a little easier. We're all just battlers.'

Andrew said seven syndicate members worked at the Undergraduate Library, another two had resigned but 'paid up their Lotto until the end of the year' and one worked at the Central Library'.

He said the telephones of syndicate members had run hot after the Gold Lotto draw.

'The next day they sent a limousine around with champagne and the million dollar cheque - it was all just incredible.'
