Pharmacy School get $10,000 funding boost

23 February 1998

Brisbane chartered accountancy firm Johnston Rorke has given the University's School of Pharmacy a $10,000 boost for the second year running.

Johnston Rorke, which specialises in working with pharmacists, has sponsored a part-time lectureship within the School.

School of Pharmacy head Associate Professor Sue Tett said Johnston Rorke was the first accountancy company to support the school.

'We wouldn't be able to afford initiatives like this without the support of external companies with a commitment to the pharmacy profession,' she said.

Johnston Rorke partner and Pharmacy Services Division head Bruce Annabel said the sponsorship was an extension of the company's involvement in the pharmacy industry.

'We look after well over 100 pharmacists from Cairns to Melbourne and we have a major commitment to the pharmacy industry,' he said.

'We want to give something back to the profession and we thought we could encourage the School of Pharmacy by contributing money to help educate pharmacists.

'From another viewpoint, we're trying to make pharmacists aware of what we do and increase their awareness of the need for good financial management in community pharmacy.'

Ms Leigh McKauge has taken up the part-time lectureship in Pharmacy Practice. The funds for the lectureship were donated through the University's Annual Appeal.
