UQ holds study skills workshops for students

The University of Queensland will hold a two-day course early next year for students who are uncertain about what to expect at university.

The course also will assist people wishing to strengthen their learning skills and enhance their learning performance.

Organised by the University's Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE), the course will run on Saturday, February 12 and Sunday, February 13, 2000.

The course will cover areas including becoming an effective learner, managing time effectively, improving reading and writing skills, and preparing for exams.

ICTE will also hold a three day workshop for students in Years 11 and 12 on Tuesday, January 25, Thursday, January 27 and Friday, January 28, 2000.

The workshop will teach participants to plan and manage their study, set goals, understand their learning styles, strengths and weaknesses, use advanced study strategies, use their memory, develop exam strategies and prepare for the Queensland Core Skills Test.

For further information, contact ICTE, telephone 07 3365 7100 or email: icte.enrol@mailbox.uq.edu.au
