Professor John Hay appointed to Innovation Council

University Vice-Chancellor Professor John Hay has been appointed to the Queensland Innovation Council as an inaugural member.

The Council was recently established as an advisory mechanism to the Queensland Government for the development, promotion and implementation of its vision for innovation within the State.

It will provide the Deputy Premier with advice, recommendations and practical solutions on innovation issues critical to the development of internationally competitive enterprise within Queensland. In particular, the Council will be integral to the promotion and implementation of the Government's strategy for innovation, "Innovation - Queensland's future."

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie said members of the Council, from Government, industry and higher education, had been chosen for their "strategic vision and expertise" in their chosen field, and demonstrated a wealth of experience in all aspects of innovation.
