UQ Ipswich hosts information evening

5 May 2000

The University of Queensland's award-winning Ipswich campus will host an information evening on May 9 at 7pm.

University staff will be on hand to explain options for mid year entry to the innovative range of degree programs offered at the campus.

The University has a limited number of places available in the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) mid-year offer round.

Stages one and two of the $42 million UQ Ipswich campus recently won three of the National Trust Queensland's prestigious John Herbert Awards - Australia's longest-running heritage awards. Stage two was completed in December last year.

University Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) Professor Trevor Grigg said the UQ Ipswich campus project was an asset for the State and an important part of the University's ongoing academic development.

"We see the campus as providing a benchmark for the development of future university campuses across Australia," he said.

"Students and staff who have attended UQ Ipswich since its opening last year have been impressed by the state-of-the-art facilities in each of the buildings, helping to prepare students for the e-world in which we now live."

"They have also praised the preservation of the distinctive heritage atmosphere."

The campus is expected to accommodate over 2000 students by 2001.

Places are available in the following programs at UQ Ipswich: Bachelor of Business (Communication), Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management), Bachelor of Business (Travel Management), Bachelor of Business (Leisure Management), Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management), Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Contemporary Studies, Bachelor of Social Science, Bachelor of Behavioural Studies, Bachelor of Electronic Commerce, and Bachelor of Information Environments.

All programs are available in full-time or part-time modes, except the Bachelor of Information Environments, which is available only as a part-time option.

The information evening will be held in room 116, Building 12, with entry via Parker Avenue or Salisbury Road (off Warwick Road).

Mid year applications close on Friday, May 19. For further information, contact the UQ Ipswich Student Centre, telephone 3381 1011 or visit the web site: http://www.uq.edu.au/student/courses which also links to the QTAC website.
