Campus welcomes community to UQ Ipswich Open Day

UQ Ipswich Open Day on Sunday, August 19 will showcase leading-edge courses, exciting career pathways and ultra-modern facilities to prospective students, their families and friends.

The academic and entertainment program from 10am to 2pm will include free rides and activities for children and teenagers, community stalls and markets, music, a free barbecue hosted by Triple M, and food stalls.

Library tours will be available and a full mini-lecture program will explore topics such as Learning to talk "bloke" and Profiling Criminology (Behavioural Studies), Nobody listens to me (Business Communication),Who's really at risk? (Education) and How public relations tries to make war look good (Social Science).

Electronic and sensory games will be on offer at the Self-directed Learning Centre and visitors to the Information Environments program can play The Untold Story of Myst strategy game and get free digital photomontages.

A computer will be given away during the day. Other competitions include Internet quizzes with prizes of one night's luxury accommodation (Business Management program) and a speech dictation program (Business Communication).

Free parking will be available on campus and free buses will run every half-hour between Ipswich railway station and UQ Ipswich, with the first pick-up from Bell Street outside the station at 9.40am and the last bus leaving the campus at 1.50pm.
