Volunteers needed for UQ parental stress, coping and adaptation study

8 May 2002

The University of Queensland is seeking mothers of children aged 9-12 to participate in a study looking at stress, coping and adaptation in mothers.

Raising a child can be a stressful experience for all mothers at times. Research investigating how mothers cope and adapt to the stress of raising a child will provide useful information that will help us develop appropriate supports for parents.

In order to research stress and adaptation in mothers we will be requiring mothers who have a son or daughter who is aged 9 to 12 to participate in the study.

Volunteers will be required to complete a series of questionnaires on various aspects of their child in addition to their thoughts on their own life.

Questionnaires will be mailed to volunteers’ homes so that the questionnaires can be completed in the comfort of their own home.

Volunteers will receive an Instant Scratch-it in appreciation of the time and effort they have put into completing the questionnaires.

If you are interested in participating in the study, please contact Machelle Rinaldis or Jenn Lancaster (telephone 07 3365 6858 or email: christinasamios@hotmail.com
