UQ forum to discuss breastfeeding issues

8 May 2003

A post Mother’s Day Breastfeeding Networking Group meeting will be held at The University of Queensland on Monday, May 12.

Parents who work or study at the University, or who are considering doing so, are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will take place at 8.30am at Tanya’s Cloister Café, Great Court, St Lucia campus.

Interest in forming the group was established during the inaugural UQ Diversity Week in March.

“The meetings are informal and are designed for those interested in breastfeeding issues and support,” said the Breastfeeding Networking Group coordinator Dr Haida Luke from UQ’s School of Education.

“Breastfeeding is a public issue as well as a practical one. We want to create an environment of support that builds on what already exists at the University so parents can continue breastfeeding while working or studying.”
