Bus services come on line

1 February 2007

The second and third of three new bus services travelling over the new Eleanor Schonell Bridge will come on line this month for the start of Orientation Week, commencing on February 19.

The Eleanor Schonell Bridge is the first in Australia dedicated for use by buses, pedestrians and bicycles, and
connects the St Lucia campus at UQ with Dutton Park.

TransLink has advised that it is providing three new bus services to travel over this bridge:
• route 209 from Carindale Interchange to UQ Lakes station - commencing February 19;
• route 169 from Eight Mile Plains busway station to UQ Lakes station - commencing February 19; and
• route 109 from city to UQ Lakes station - commenced December 2006.

The new services provide:
• more convenient connections to existing bus services for passengers from Logan, the Redlands, Beaudesert, and existing rail services at Dutton Park station;
• fast, more direct, reliable trips to and from UQ, year-round; and
• high frequency departure times.
