Water scientists sought

UQ is looking for Australia’s best up-and-coming water scientist.

Entries for the 2008 RiverSymposium Young Water Scientist Award are open until Tuesday, April 15.

The winner will receive the award and $3000 while runners up receive $250.

They will be announced at the 11th International RiverSymposium held in Brisbane from September 1-4.

Postgraduate research students who are under 35 years old and studying a water-related topic at any recognised Australian institution, are eligible to enter.

Entrants will be judged on the quality of their research, outcomes, communication and potential future scientific impacts.

Applications can be sent to Tony Miscamble, Principal Administration Officer, UQ Graduate School, Cumbrae-Stewart Building, St Lucia by Tuesday, April 15.

The UQ Graduate School is offering another $2000 through the Postgraduate Academic Conference Scheme (PACS) to help students organise a postgraduate conference to coincide with RiverSymposium.

The Young Water Scientist Award is funded by global services company GHD and the Water Forum Cooperative Research Centres.
