Leximancer Launches v3 of Text Analytics Software
Leximancer Pty Ltd, one of the latest software innovation companies to emerge from The University of Queensland, has released version 3 of its revolutionary text analytics software.
Leximancer is a software platform that enables users to find meaning from text-based documents. It automatically identifies key themes, concepts and ideas from unstructured text with little or no guidance. The innovative concept map allows users to interact with the analysis – navigating the true meaning of the text.
According to Leximancer CEO Neil Hartley, the new version has moved into a java-based client server architecture targeted at enterprise-wide implementations, which is proving popular with the company’s 200+ global customers.
“In addition to the revolutionary text classification, search, mining and fact extraction capabilities of v2, Leximancer v3 provides the industry-unique capability of causal analysis,” Mr Hartley said.
“Causal analysis is particularly applicable in customer insight applications, such as the analysis of call centre notes, whereby the root causes of particular customer behaviours can be easily identified so the appropriate response can be actioned more expediently.”
Other features of Leximancer v3 which improve upon v2 include:
• Performance has been improved by a factor of between 3 and 30 (depending on the data being processed) which means larger data sets, over 1G, can be processed 30 times faster.
• The multi-user application is available as a server application with a clean, easy-to-use web services interface (REST), making Leximancer accessible through an ordinary browser.
• Primarily developed in Java with some parts developed in C for enhanced performance.
• Ability to handle multiple spreadsheets in a single project.
• The redesigned map viewer provides improved readability and usability.
• A more sophisticated indexing engine allows the user to retrieve information using more complex queries, not just ‘concept A and concept B’.
• Lemmatisation is possible for grouping together different forms of the same word, e.g. ‘stroked’ and ‘stroke’, which works for a large number of languages.
“Leximancer v3 represents a significant step forward for the company and is further validation of the technology and our business plan,” said Mr Hartley.
“Our first v3 enterprise customer, an Australian federal agency, has already signed up to take advantage of the improvements this version has to offer.”
Leximancer was established in 2005 by UniQuest, the University of Queensland’s main commercialisation company. Leximancer’s concept-mining software offers an innovative approach to text analytics employed by Intelligence, Government and Research agencies.
