With programs in medicine, nursing and midwifery, health sciences and arts all on offer in 2011, visitors to the UQ Ipswich Open Day will get to experience a very healthy study environment.

On Wednesday, August 18, between 2.30pm-6.30pm, potential students can explore the campus, meet with current staff and students and learn more about the study options available.

Visitors can also enjoy a free sausage sizzle, live entertainment and have a go on the bungee fun run.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Rix said he welcomed students and their families to come along and get a feel for what the Ipswich campus had to offer.

“Holding our Open Day on a Wednesday afternoon means people can visit the campus at a time that doesn’t interfere with their weekend plans,” he said.

“Our staff and students will be on-hand to offer advice and provide insight into life at UQ Ipswich.”

Professor Rix said several developments, including the opening of the $2.5 million GP Super Clinic, had increased the appeal of studying at UQ Ipswich.

The UQ College – which will provide further study options and pathways for students to UQ – opens at the Ipswich campus in early 2011.

It will offer associate degrees, initially in Business, which can be articulated into UQ degree programs.

It will also provide other study opportunities, including tertiary preparation and bridging programs.

UQ Ipswich Open Day will be held on Wednesday August 18, from 2:30pm-6:30pm.
