UQ School of Law academic presents at World Bank Workshop in Honiara

28 October 2011

University of Queensland academic Associate Professor Jennifer Corrin is among the speakers at a World Bank Justice for the Poor (J4P) Workshop taking place in the Solomon Islands this week.

Dr Corrin has been invited to discuss the handling of land disputes in Melanesia at the JP4 State Community Justice Workshop in the Islands capital, Honiara.

The World Bank’s J4P program supports the emergence of equitable justice systems and operates in countries where legal pluralism presents a particular development challenge.

The UQ academic, a former legal practitioner in Solomon Islands and an expert in South Pacific law, is a regular speaker on Solomon Island legal matters. Earlier this month Dr Corrin presented a session on the legal perspectives of conducting business in Solomon Islands at the 3rd Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum in Brisbane.

Among the delegates at the Australia Pacific Islands Business Council event was The Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Matthew Anderson and Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary for Trade, The Hon. Justine Elliot MP.
