UQ students win national ‘Law Revue of the Year’ competition

28 October 2011

A group of University of Queensland students have been named the winners of a competition to find Australia’s best university Law Revue sketch.

The students’ spoof music video, ‘Hunger State of Mind’ received the highest number of votes cast by viewers in the Facebook-based ‘Law Revue of the Year’ competition, beating entries from eight Australian universities.

The TC Beirne School of Law students were presented with a prize cheque for $5,000 by Andrew Proebstl, CEO of competition organiser Legalsuper.

UQ Law Revue Convenor Timothy Warwick said it was an honour to win the title and thanked all those involved in producing the video sketch which has now gained over 8,500 hits on YouTube.

He confirmed the prize money will be used to buy new stage and video equipment to create a ‘bigger and better’ law revue next year.

This year’s University of Queensland Law Revue ‘True Writ’ played to sell-out crowds during August raising $3,500 for the Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House (QPILCH), an organisation which helps disadvantaged members of the community to access free legal services.
