The University of Queensland will be a hive of activity on Sunday, 3 August, when high school students and their families visit the St Lucia Campus for Open Day.

UQ Open Day is designed to help prospective students make important choices about programs, universities and careers. It also provides the chance to explore the Campus and experience life at UQ.

It is one of the biggest events on the UQ calendar, last year attracting more than 21,000 visitors.

The day is filled with a range of activities, including program information sessions, tours, live entertainment and science demonstrations.

Event Co-ordinator Jessica Hannant said UQ Open Day offered prospective students and their families an insight into university life.

“Open Day is a chance to get personalised advice about studying at UQ, while also enjoying a range of fun activities offered throughout the day,” she said.

"Visitors can explore the Campus and facilities, talk to passionate staff and discover the wide range of opportunities offered to UQ students.

"There will be seminars covering a broad range of topics, including scholarships, overseas exchanges and tips from current students.”

The UQ Centre will house more than 80 information booths where visitors can talk to staff about studying at UQ and student support services.

Live entertainment and activities will feature in The Great Court, ranging from student bands, UQ Taiko Drumming and Three Minute Thesis (3MT) presentations by current research students.

A variety of tours will take place in the RD Milns Antiquities Museum, the Global Change Institute and the UQ Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Precinct.

Open Days will be held at UQ Ipswich on 6 August and UQ Gatton on 17 August.

People wanting to make the most of Open Day can plan ahead online at youruq.com/openday.

A free UQ Open Day app that provides real-time information and helps visitors find their way around the Campus is now available from the App Store and Google Play.
