Engineering the ideal instrument

19 October 2015

A group of four undergraduate UQ engineering students have finished the ambitious project of making an acoustic guitar entirely manufactured from advanced carbon fibre material.

The project required the students to make a final product starting from complete scratch. It covered all aspects of product development, from product design, to manufacturing, and assessment of the performance. The manufacturing of the guitar used the exact same materials and manufacturing processes as those used in the aerospace industry.
