Students and supporters from more than 226 secondary schools will converge on The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus next week for the 2017 Metropolitan North Track and Field Regional Championship.

UQ Sport Assistant Operations Manager Johnathon Turner said the event, from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 August, would increase traffic and parking requirements on campus between 7.30am and 2.30pm.

Mr Turner said UQ Sport and UQ Property and Facilities were working together to minimise the impact on staff and students during the sports carnival.

“I recommend people use public transport where possible,” he said.

UQ staff and students will need to provide UQ identification to park in the P7 (Keith Street), P8 and P9 (Sir William MacGregor Drive) carparks.

“Visitors will be directed to the P10 carpark under the Synthetic Fields and the UQ Centre,” he said.

All other on-campus parking will operate as normal.

Mr Turner apologised for any inconvenience that resulted from the sports carnival.
