The University of Queensland is gearing up for an early start to the 2018 academic year, with a calendar adjustment that makes allowances for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April.

The 2018 Academic Calendar is available now.

Academic Services Division Director and Academic Registrar Mr Mark Erickson said first semester classes would begin on 19 February rather than 26 February.

He said the mid-semester break would be two weeks instead of one, from 2 to 13 April to align with the Games from 4 to 15 April.

Mr Erickson said the change to the academic calendar would benefit students and staff participating in or attending the Games.

There will be no changes to UQ’s semester two calendar.
