The University of Queensland has jumped four places in the highly regarded Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, continuing its climb up the global ladder.

UQ has moved to equal 62nd in a field of close to 1400 institutions, maintaining fourth place in Australia.

The institution improved its performance in four of the five broad performance indicators - teaching, research, international outlook and industry income.

The University has consistently maintained its place in the top 70 worldwide in the past nine years.

UQ’s teaching performance jumped five points to 54.3, while research improved from 58.7 in 2020 to 61.

The result caps a stellar year in the rankings for UQ, which was named Australia’s top research institute in the 2020 CWTS Leiden Rankings earlier this year, placing 31st in the world.

UQ came in at number 46 in the QS World University Rankings for 2021 and was also the only Australian university to have at least four subjects ranked in the top 10 worldwide in the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2020.
