Almost four thousand Queensland students have been offered the opportunity to study at The University of Queensland, in the latest tertiary admissions offers which went out today.

Health Science, Engineering and Environmental Science areas of study were in high demand among the 3735 offers to future students.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Joanne Wright, said UQ had now made 9447 offers to students, including the pre-Christmas round offers.

“The demand for our dual program Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Masters of Engineering grew by 27 per cent with more than 300 first preference applications,” Professor Wright said.

“There’s also very strong interest in Environmental Science, which is up 22 per cent and demand for Health Science is up by 19 per cent.”

Professor Wright advised students who did not receive an offer today for their preferred course not to despair.

“If you've received an offer to study at UQ, congratulations but if you didn't get the offer you wanted, you still have options,” she said.

“UQ is still accepting applications and change of preference for most programs.

“Places are still available and most of our programs continue to remain open for further offers.

“Limited places may also be available in high demand programs such as Dental Science, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Midwifery and provisional entry to the Doctor of Medicine so some applicants who missed out on an offer in the main round may still be eligible to receive an offer in later rounds.

“They can conditionally accept an offer and still wait to see if they get their first choice.”

Further offers will be made by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre in late January and early February.

Information is available on the UQ website that explains the conditional acceptance process: https://future-students.uq.edu.au/admissions/undergraduate/respond-your-offer
