UQ continues to climb THE world rankings

The University of Queensland has again achieved its best global result in the highly regarded Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

UQ improved one place to 53^rd in the world, after jumping six places to equal 54^th last year.

Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Deborah Terry said the Times Higher Ed rankings were regarded across the sector.

“For UQ to achieve a second successive global best in these rankings is an outstanding endorsement for the sustained endeavours of our academics and researchers,” Professor Terry said.

“Our world-leading research continues to make a difference in Queensland, Australia and overseas, and this has again been reflected in this outstanding result.

“The learning environment is another key pillar measured in the ranking and recognises our commitment to fostering the next generation of academics.”

Professor Terry said that collaboration was also key to the University’s success.

“For us that means working with industry partners to ensure we are translating our discoveries, with colleagues at other institutions, and harnessing the expertise within our own community.

“An example this year is the University’s own major investment in the Health Research Accelerator program to build capabilities in collaboration with our partners to address the most pressing health and medical research and innovation challenges of our time.”

THE ranks 1799 of the world’s universities on measures including teaching, research and citations, as well as national outlook and industry income.
