The University of Queensland has climbed the QS World University Ranking 2025 to be ranked 40 in the world.

The University maintained its position in the top 3 percent of the 1,500 institutions ranked.

UQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry AC said the results reaffirmed the impact of the leading research, teaching and innovation produced at the University.

“This position among the world’s top universities reflects the calibre of our researchers who are helping to solve local and global challenges,” Professor Terry said.

“Through collaborations with industry, governments and institutions, we’re translating discoveries into tangible solutions to address food sustainability, energy transition, and critical health challenges.

“A great example is our recently announced partnership with US-based Emory University, which will see some of the world’s best vaccine researchers co-located with industry at the Queensland Emory Vaccine Centre at UQ.”

The QS World University Rankings measures performance across indicators including Academic and Employer Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Faculty Student Ratio, Sustainability, Employment Outcomes, and a number of internationalisation metrics.

UQ has now improved its position in the QS rankings by 10 places in the past 2 years, reaffirming the University as a destination of choice for both talented researchers and students from around the globe.
