UQ recognised in Highly Cited Researcher awards

This article was updated in February 2025 to reflect updates to Clarivate’s 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list.

The University of Queensland received the equal highest number of Highly Cited Researcher (HCR) awards in Australia.

UQ received 39 awards in the 2024 Clarivate HCR list and is the 26th most awarded institution globally, in equal place with the University of Melbourne.

Professor Philip Hugenholtz and Dr Donovan Parks received more than one Highly Cited Researcher award, and 5 made the list for the first time.

Highly Cited Researchers with UQ affiliation

The annual HCR list recognises and celebrates researchers who have published a significant number of papers between 2013 to 2023 in the top 1% most cited in their field and year of publication.
