25 September 2026

University of Queensland Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Professor Sue Harrison has been named a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering.

An internationally acclaimed bioprocess engineer, Professor Harrison is recognised for advancing sustainable resource management and minerals processing, building research capacity and excellence, and translating research into global industry impact over her 30-year academic career.

She is one of only 75 distinguished leaders – including a record 24 women – elected from around the world in the Academy’s 50th year.

Fellows are elected for their incredible impact in their field and contributions to shaping policy, strengthening industry and academic collaboration, and broadening participation in engineering.

Fellows will be formally admitted at a ceremony in London on 19 October, joining the Academy’s global network working to engineer better lives.
