The Xt Files - the truth is out there...

16 February 1998

Baptist minister and John Mark Ministries Melbourne director Reverend Dr Rowland Croucher will be guest speaker at the University's 1998 commencement service on Sunday, March 8.

Dr Croucher specialises in counselling pastors, ex-pastors, church leaders and their spouses and his theme for the service will be The Xt Files - the truth is out there...

The theme relates to the fear and anxiety people are facing from a range of sources including the media as the year 2000 draws closer. It will focus on how people can contribute to society in their search for something better.

Reverend Croucher is the author of Still Waters Deep Waters, High Mountains Deep Valleys, Rivers in the Desert and The Family.

More than 500 people visit the John Mark Ministries homepage every day and Reverend Croucher is also involved in information technology (IT) discussions, chat and newsgroups.

The commencement service, to be held in Mayne Hall at 7.30pm, will also feature the choirs of Bremer State High School, Brisbane Boys' College and St Aidan's Anglican School.

Other performers will include the University of Queensland String Orchestra, the University of Queensland Choir, organist Christopher Wrench and flautist Timothy Munro.

Music Department student Tanya Simons is musical director.

University Chaplain Reverend Cyril Muller said the commencement service was open to students, staff and the public.

'Many of the musical performers are University students and we are catering for both the traditional and more contemporary,' he said.

'We have a number of new banners reflecting the restructuring of the University and hold the service as a celebration of the new academic year.'
