UQ Ipswich signage takes to the motorways

20 August 1998

Commuters in south-east Queensland have a good reason to "watch this space" over the next few months.

The University of Queensland is advertising on billboards for the first time, to promote its UQ Ipswich campus, opening in February 1999.

The billboards feature a photograph of three UQ students and announce the opening of the new campus for Australia's 1998 University of the Year.

The UQ signs will rotate among eight locations until December on the Ipswich motorway, Ipswich Road, Cunningham and Warrego Highways and Central Railway Station in Brisbane.

Rail commuters attending the Royal Queensland Show commented favourably on the billboard on the Western Line platform in Brisbane.

The UQ Ipswich signage will also feature on the backs of buses in the Ipswich region.

A television commercial, and press and radio advertising will air in late August-early September to promote the UQ Ipswich campus and its courses day on September 6 at Ipswich Civic Hall.
