UQ forum to discuss breastfeeding issues
Interest in forming a Breastfeeding Networking Group at The University of Queensland will be established at an inaugural meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, March 18).
The meeting will be held as part of UQ Diversity Week (March 17-21) at 1pm in Room 502, Social Sciences Building, St Lucia campus.
Parents who work or study at the University, or who are considering doing so, are encouraged to attend.
“The University is providing and recognising that such a meeting is current with modern family-friendly workplaces,” said event organiser Dr Haida Luke from UQ’s School of Education.
“Breastfeeding is a public issue as well as a practical one. We want to create an environment of support that builds on what already exists at the University so parents can continue breastfeeding while working or studying.
Dr Luke said the meeting, which is supported by The Equity Office, aimed to establish what additional support and facilities parents required while they were on campus.
