University of Queensland postpones graduation celebrations

20 March 2003

The University of Queensland has announced the postponement of graduation celebrations scheduled next week for Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.

University Secretary and Registrar Douglas Porter apologised to graduands and guests for any inconvenience this decision may cause.

“The decision to postpone the ceremonies was taken in the light of safety and security concerns stemming from the current uncertain world situation,” Mr Porter said.

The ceremonies were due to be held in Singapore on Monday, March 24; in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, March 26 and Hong Kong on Friday, March 28.

He said graduands would be contacted as soon as new dates for the graduation celebrations could be arranged.
