Show me the PROFIT$

21 August 2006

The University of Queensland Business School Postgraduate Association (BSPA) launched its new investment competition PROFIT$ with the first free workshop on Wednesday 9 August.

Sponsored by Wilson HTM, the competition involves preparing an equity research report on a company and proposing a buy, hold, or sell recommendation on its stock.

BSPA PROFIT$ Chairman Dhruv Khanna said there would be another free workshop on Wednesday August 30.

“The workshop will teach students about comprehensive spreadsheet models, cash flow, and other financial projections,” Mr Khanna said.

“The competition is a brilliant opportunity for students to experience the actual world of investment and meet some of the most respected experts in the business.”

Mr Khanna said a maximum of 20 teams would be selected to participate.

“The top five will present their reports in front of a panel of expert judges.”

“Three winners will get cash prizes and certificates but we believe the main incentive for students will be the opportunity to present their ideas to the experts.

“It’s a great way to impress a potential employer.”

Interested students should contact Dhruv Khanna on bspa.profit@gmail.com.
