Week of graduation ceremonies ahead for 5700 UQ students

More than 7000 students from The University of Queensland will achieve a significant milestone this month when they celebrate the completion of their studies.

The first of 20 end-of-year graduation events over the next fortnight, will start this morning (Thursday 6, December) with a ceremony on the main St Lucia Campus.

An estimated 5700 students will attend the formal ceremonies.

At the St Lucia ceremonies students will graduate from a range of courses including business, engineering, architecture, social sciences, health sciences sciences and arts.

Graduation ceremonies will also take place at the Ipswich campus for business, economics, law and health sciences students.

Meanwhile, graduands will cross the stage next Wednesday, to receive qualifications from UQ’s Science Faculty.

This graduating cohort is joining a group of more than 200,000 distinguished UQ alumni many of whom are pursuing careers around the world while choosing to stay connected with UQ.

Five honorary doctorates will be awarded including Emeritus Professor Robert Milns AM, Dr Jean Calder AC, Professor Dennis Liotta, Mr Andrew Petrie and Dr Samuel Hawgood.
