UQ maintains top Nature ranking

27 June 2022

The University of Queensland is again the highest-ranked Australian university in the 2022 Nature Index of high-quality research outputs.

In addition to retaining its number one overall position, UQ also ranked first in Australia for Earth and Environment (globally 26th) and for Life Sciences (globally 55th) subject areas.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Terry said the result was a testament to the depth of research talent at The University of Queensland, and the importance of our collaboration with other world-class experts and organisations.

“To have continued our output of such high impact research during the trials presented by the pandemic is an outstanding result,” Professor Terry said.

“We are excited as an organisation to be able to bring those capabilities to help solve state, national and global challenges, and to the education of our research students who will become the experts of tomorrow.”

The tables are based on data from 1 January to 31 December 2021 and full details are available on the Nature Index website.
