TEDxUQ celebrates a decade of inspiration

8 August 2023

TEDxUQ returns to The University of Queensland this month with a line-up of insightful speakers at its 2023 event, Small Ripples, Big Waves.

Now in its tenth year, TEDxUQ provides a platform for critical thinking, innovation and creative ideas from across the UQ community of researchers, professors, alumni and students.

This year, 12 speakers across 3 sessions will explore how small actions can create transformative outcomes on Saturday 19 August.

They range from Adjunct Professor Stan Steindl’s insights into the power of compassion, to Dr Chris Rinke’s research on the game changing potential of superworms in tackling plastic waste.

The audience will be able to explore activation spaces featuring fossil displays with Dr Gilbert Price and a painting and calligraphy station with the Australian Oriental Immigrants Association. Guests can also attend the optional post-event networking session with speakers.

The inaugural TEDxUQ event was started in 2013 by third-year biotechnology student Lawrence Wong and has gone on to host 101 talks and receive more than 3 million views on YouTube.

UQ students, staff and alumni can purchase tickets at a discounted price. For more information about TEDxUQ 2023, visit www.tedxuq.com/
