UQ researchers named ATSE Fellows

Two University of Queensland researchers have been named as 2024 Fellows of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE).  

Professor Lianzhou Wang FTSE FAA and Professor Xiwang Zhang FTSE are among 32 leaders recognised for applying engineering and sciences to tackle challenges facing society. 

Professor Wang was recognised as a semiconductor materials innovator for developing and commercialising novel nanomaterials for clean energy technologies from solar cells and light-emitting materials to device manufacturing and advanced mineral processing. 

Professor Zhang was recognised as a sustainable technology innovator for applying membrane science and technology across a range of environmental uses and leading a national initiative to convert carbon dioxide into usable products such as fuels and chemicals.  

The Fellows join the Academy’s 900 leading engineers and applied scientists.
