UQ celebrates successful NCP Scholarships outcome

The University of Queensland is celebrating its largest and most successful cohort of New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarships with 11 students to advance their studies in the Indo-Pacific in 2025.

The scholarships will provide the students with valuable experiences including internships, mentorships, research opportunities and language study programs across Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and New Caledonia.

A flagship initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the scholarships aim to boost Australia’s ties with the Indo-Pacific region.

• Elliott Collins (UQ Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy, Economics (Honours)) - University of Hong Kong.
• Angus Duncan (UQ Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours)) - Taiwan’s National Cheng Chi University.
• Nicholas Egan (UQ Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Honours)) - National University of Singapore.
• Emily Graham (UQ Bachelors of Science (Marine Biology) / Laws (Honours) - Université de la Nouvelle-Calédonie, New Caledonia.
• Siddesh Karekal (UQ Bachelor of Advance Finance and Economics) - National University of Singapore.
• Matilda Keenan (UQ Bachelor of International Studies) - The University of Tokyo.
• Xander Minzenmay (UQ Bachelor of Advanced Business (honours) (International Business)) - Singapore Management University.
• Amlan Nag (UQ Bachelors of Computer Science (Machine Learning) / Mathematics (Statistics)) - University of Hong Kong.
• Hannah Smith (UQ Bachelor of International Studies (Japanese Advanced and Economics)) - Waseda University, Japan.
• Shanice Timotius (UQ Bachelors of Commerce (Finance) / Laws (Honours)) - National University of Singapore.
• Kieran Tran (UQ Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Electrical / Mathematics (Applied Mathematics)) -  Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.  

Under the 2025 NCP Mobility Program, the Australian Government will also provide The University with more than $1.5 million to support 252 Mobility Grants for UQ undergraduates to participate in study, language training, and internships in the Indo-Pacific, across 18 projects.
