UQ researcher secures funding for cancer treatment research

4 February 2025

University of Queensland (UQ) researcher Dr Debottam Sinha has received $450,000 from the Passe & Williams Foundation to improve health outcomes for patients with a rare form of cancer.

The 3-year study aims to develop a new treatment strategy for adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC), a cancer in the salivary gland that can resist conventional therapies including radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery.

Dr Sinha will lead the research alongside Professor Chris Perry and Professor Fiona Simpson.

The Passe & Williams Foundation funds medical research, surgery and care in Australia and New Zealand to improve the health of people with ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions.
