$1.85 million boost for UQ research projects
UQ researchers have secured $1.85 million in round 1 of Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) Innovate program to commercialise research in critical sectors such as health and renewable energies.
Associate Professor Viktor Vegh received $1.35 million to develop a portable, low-cost MRI device in collaboration with industry partners, Magnetica and Intellidesign.
The device aims to enhance training, prevent injury and support rehabilitation in high-performance athletes with real-time musculoskeletal imaging.
Associate Professor Rahul Sharma was awarded $530,150 to advance an AI-powered operations and maintenance platform for utility-scale solar farms, in partnership with Solaris AI and Edify Energy.
The platform aims to reduce underperformance in Australia’s solar farm sector with advanced diagnostics, fault prediction and proactive maintenance.
