Food from around the world will be on the menu when the University of Queensland’s new Mansfield Place Food Precinct opens on Monday (29 October).

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Joanne Wright said the precinct would operate until early next year, when the refurbished Physiol Refectory re-opens.

“The Mansfield Place Food Precinct will be a social drawcard for students, staff and visitors, featuring a rotating schedule of 15 food trucks, and shaded dining areas in a UQ themed al fresco eating area, said Professor Wright.

“The food trucks will offer Malaysian, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and German cuisine, soul bowls, fish and chips, burgers, bagels and more.

The precinct, located between Building 61 and Alumni Court, will be open from 7am to 4pm week days.

The Mansfield Place Food Precinct is a temporary replacement for Physiol, which closes today (Friday) and will be replaced with a new food court.

“The redevelopment, to open in semester one next year, will have seven food and beverage outlets, a self-service food preparation kitchen with microwaves, expanded indoor and outdoor seating, and improved access for people of all abilities.”
